Clear Creek Photographs

Clear Creek was first established as a logging camp, supplying timbers for the Winter Quarters mine. Later coal was found in the canyons, six miles south of Scofield, and a beautiful mining camp was built. The Finns made up the majority of ethnic groups in the camp and built their own hall, which soon became the meeting place for the camp. The Utah Fuel Company built 25 homes, a hotel, which would house 150 miners, a new hospital, company store, school, meeting hall, barns, workshops and a water plant. There are pictures of this camp when it was first built in 1903 available. Today, one hundred years later, the hospital, school and company store are being torn down.
